About the Series
Landscape designer Jamie Durie (“The Victory Garden”) brings touches of his Australian homeland to “Outback Nation,” on which he helps homeowners in the U.S. transform their neglected backyards into outdoor oases. First, however, each hourlong episode begins with a family helping themselves. They camp with Jamie in their “private wilderness” — amidst overgrown gardens, decaying decks, unkempt pools and dead trees — for the project’s duration, which helps them experience the effects of weather patterns on the space. Each family member is also assigned a special project, while Jamie comes up with a design element of his own that is presented to the homeowners as a surprise.
